Jamie Oliver’s TED Prize wish: Teach every child about food

via: madbello

It’s not only America that has this problem. I see a lot of people around me eating ready made meals because they don’t know how to cook. It’s quite shocking. They lack the know how of making an easy spaghetti sauce or even a simple salad. Kids learn quicker and easier so it’s important to get them interested from an early age so that they know how to do it, lead by example – cook for life.

I hope to be able to visit some farms in Tunisia this summer & now even more after seeing this video. What a great story and you can really see that they love what they do. The end product is made with love!

Tunisian style

17 Sep

At times it’s hard to find recipes and info on Tunisian cuisine but since the arrival of Twitter it is a lot easier. Today Zizoo tweeted an article on LaTimes.com ‘Rosh Hashana, Tunisian style‘. A great piece on Tunisian Jews living in LA.

“The rest of the year I was missing Tunisian food. If you grow up with it, this food really marks you,” he says.

This is something I’ve noticed by being married to a Tunisian but also my Tunisian friends. Once I had a true introduction, whilst on my first Tunisia trip, I also was hooked. We eat alot of Tunisian food at home and it has become our staple cuisine.

“I realized that my father, despite my resistance, gave me a beautiful gift — cooking and tradition. You try to escape your destiny, but it always catches up with you.”

This is so true. If you llike it or not at one point it all catches up to you!

P.S. There are some nice recipes that accompany the article, well worth the click.
