New Sourcy Vitamin Water

22 Nov

Vitamin water is about to become a hype in the Netherlands. Water company Sourcy has launched a vitamin water that is now carried by several supermarkets. Today we bought the ‘mango & guave’ multi vitamin water and once we we’re outside the test started.

My 10yr old daughter Amira’s first comment was ‘there was no taste’. I noticed that after drinking the vitamin water my mouth felt oily – strange! We did like it but it won’t be a favourite. I imagine that the water tastes better when it’s cold and it is a hot summer’s day.

Yummy Alert – Kruidnoten Truffles

21 Nov

bolletje-truffelnotenThere is a serious yummy product available in the Netherlands that I have only just discovered this year. Even though the stores start to stock the Sint Nicolas products way before the season starts I never noticed the package named ‘kruidnoot truffles‘. I tend to walk straight past them because eating seasonal December goodies already in September is not something one wants to get used to.

So back to this glorious yummy and extravagant new kruidnoot! First of all kruidnoot is a traditional Sint Nicolas treat that is made with flour and mixed spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cardamom and white pepper.

The kruidnoot truffle is a new variation that has a layer of white chocolate dipped in cocoa powder. Be careful, these treats are highly addictive and before you know it the whole bag is gone!

Julie & Julia – blog foodie movie

6 Nov

Julie & Julia is blogging meets food off-line! To see blog humour in a movie was original. Meryl Streep portrayed Julia Child as I imagine she would have been. Her love for food and desire to learn how to cook French cuisine was inspiring. I did have to laugh about her intense adoration for butter, it’s so true that butter makes things taste better!

As we left the cinema in the city centre we headed straight to the big cooking store! Just the right thing to do after a foodie movie…

& here is the original blog!
